On June 9th we ventured out in our 23 foot Sea Cat to the 20 fathom fingers. Myself, Sue Foster, my husband Bob Foster, and our our friend Marston Jones owner of the Oyster Bay Beer and Wine Store. (410-208-0283)

We caught a couple bluefish at the Jackspot, ventured out to the Southern end of the Fingers, cut some holes in a bucket of bunker chum, and rigged the 50 pound class trolling rods with whole mackerel and bluefish fillets and started drifting.

It was actually a slow day with a few bluefish bites, one unknown fish that ate the bait, and one black tip shark that swam through the chum line but did not eat.

Two hours and two miles later, we got the mako close enough to the boat to use the flying gaff. Half an hour after that, the men managed to pull the fish in the boat between the motors and tie it down.

Weighed in at Captain Mac's Bait and Tackle, 350 pounds, on 50 pound test black widow line. What a catch! Our first mako on our boat, "Bob's Cat."
